Daytime Running Lights?

Daytime Running Lights?
I'm one of those few people that like daytime running lights (NOT driving lights). It appears that only the Canadian models have this option. Does anyone know if a VAG setting would fix this or is it a kit that would be required?

sorry no.. there is no function for this in the ar..
many have tried to no avail. There has been some info on the Fog Lights being used as DTRs and lighting up. Its a few fuse taps in the board. Search the archive you may find it.

Try search, I've read a thread about changing headlight switch
It runs the lights @70% power. You can make the fogs come on with the parks, after a VAG. That would be the easy way. Setting goes from 13 to 00011.

The headlight switch on my 97 E320 had nine positions so you could turn on
the foglights without the headlights; in fact you could also turn on front fog lights and single rear fog without headlights as well.

Re: Daytime Running Lights?
I read in the manual somewhere, or maybe it was here several posts ago, the Xenon HID are NOT designed to be used at DRL...will simply burn them out.
You may not know this, but DRL really don't have a use in much of this country. They were developed in Sweden (if memory serves), for THEIR constant driving conditions. Yes, they reduced accidents and improved driving there, but here they are just an annoyance for many people. No evidence exists clearly showing them as a benefit.
The same people who sell you DRL, also try to sell you talking on a cell phone increases accidents.
Well, this IS true, but no more likely than changing the radio, putting on lipstick, eating fast food, or talking to a passenger.
At any rate, good luck on whatever you want to do.
