Good morning!
Make B, i think we don't have to calculate anything.
If we have to calculate for something like reconfirmation or self-satisfaction.

Enter 410 for channel 1,
Calculation: 410-402=8; 402+8=410.
Enter 427 for channel 2,
Calculation: 427-402=25; 402+25=427.
Enter 396 for channel 3,
Calculation: 396-402=-6; 402+(-6)=396.
Enter 420: for channel 4,
Calculation: 420-402=18; 402+18=420.

So that we don't need math in this case.
If you wanna lower the 4 four corners 10mm (this means your AR will be 396mm at L2),
Enter 420 for channel 1,
Enter 437 for channel 2,
Enter 406 for channel 3,
Enter 430: for channel 4,
Enter 1 : for channel 5 to save those 4 data.

After teaching the 4 corners level, perform moving up/down between L1&L4 at least 3 cycles to end the self-learning function.
Otherwise you will miss the leveling out again immediately.

Adjusted height yesterday but results were not comclusive, ok but not exactly how a I wanted.
Tried again today BUT HELP PLEASE GUYS somehow, dont know how, I've lost my settings completely. Channels 1,2,3,4 all say error and there is no reading in saved setting boxes and they are greyed out (cannot enter numbers)

Getting error code "levels not learned"

Rear has gone right down, front ok at moment. What do I do now to get back default (402 possibly) height settings???***

Good evening!
i have so many times (more than 50 times) encountered such like "level not learned" error during performing 402 mod.
My first doubt is that did you encounter the warning "Login Lost due to dropped session" while 402 mod?
Do you perform the 402 mod session just with ignition on but without engine on?
If my doubt is correct, please try the 402 mod with engine running.
The very day i tried the 402 mod for the first time, i also failed in 402 mod with getting same error as you, and contacted Ross-tech engineer by email.
They advised me to do 402 mod with engine running.
Then at last i suceeded in it.
A bad memory for me.
i have done 402 mod more than 100 times, but i have never succeed it without engine on.

Did not get a warning, think there must have been a glitch on Laptop or something like that.
Was following exact proceedure carefully. Was doing the job with ignition on but no engine run. Will try again with engine running, fingers crossed. Hope I can get up and running as I want to use the car today***

If you succeed with engine on, please refer to below threads as well.
You might change the standerd height value from 402 to 377, because my AR always everytime drops to L1 right after entering login code while performing 402 mod with engine on, so...

Didn't you encounter below screen?

Yes did yet the same screen shots that you gave above.

Have read all through the links that you sent, thanks.

Yesterday I did as you said and tried 34/11/10 with engine running and chan 1/2/3/4 eventually showed 402 again so entered 402/test/save for each chan then chan5/01/save and all corners came back up.

Big sigh of releif. Left them on 402 because I needed to use the car. Will measure and adjust with engine running today, if it stops raining, to see if I get better results.

Nice to hear good news from you!
My next concern is changing standard height from L2 to L1.
Whenever i do the 402 mod with engine running, my AR always automatically sink to L1 immediately after entering login code.
In this case we must consider the standard height as "377".
You can measure the 4 corners height in L1 to calibrate each height.
After saving in channel 5, move up/down from L1 to L4 at least 3 cycles sufficiently until the self-learning function ends.
im keeping my fingers crossed!

I don't believe you have to be in L2 to do the 402 mod. You're setting the level the car will expect for L2 regardless of what your current mode is.
Mine was in L1 when I did it and it worked perfectly.
Be sure you measure carefully before you make any changes, and though allroad55 thinks you should do your correction and lowering in the same step, I disagree. I would take the more conservative approach and get the car back to it's intended stock height before attempting to lower it.
JMO.
Good Luck.

Hi Mike B! i think you are right at this point, and maybe your approach is very proper and authoritative way.
Additionally everyone (including me) want to follow it and achieve the 402 mod via the method of nebuchadnezzar posted.

However our problem is we can NOT complete the 402 mod without engine on, due to somthing like a implausible and unstable signal between VCDS & LCM.
Whenever i try the 402 mod without engine on, encounter the "login lost due to dropped session", the best way to fix was doing with engine on (advised via Ross-tech engineer).
i think some newer HEX+CAN USB cables cause this issue, not sure.

If i do the 402 mod with engine on, my AR always sinks to L1 automatically (whatever my AR stayed previous height level), and then the standard height changes to 377.
If you assume the standard height is 402 after aoutomatically dropped to L1 with engine on, and enter the value "403" to each channel to just lower 1mm, amazingly your AR will be "351mm"!
(351=377-(402-377)-(403-402))
(L1 is 377. L2 is 402)
This symptom is very experienced by me, and so many times i was pestered with this issue.

Do you know any better solution?
Anyone besides me has such kind of experience in 402 mod?
Or only LCM of RHD AR have this issue?

I have a 2002 2.7t Tip LHD allroad. I do not need to have the engine running when I do the air spring height adaption. But, the ignition must be "on".

I start the adjustment of the height of each corner with the car already in L2. Then I enter the login code and click "Do It".

I measure the vertical distance in millimeters between the top edge of the wheel rim and the underside edge of the fender (directly above the center line of the wheel). To that number I add half the diameter of the wheel rim (again in millimeters). This total distance in millimeters is the vertical distance from the center of the wheel to the edge of the fender. This is the number I put in the "New Value" field. I do this in sequence for each of the four channels (corners). Then I enter a "1" in channel 5. The car then adjusts the height of each corner as needed to put the height of each corner at 402 millimeters.

I do not add or subtract any number from 402. I simply put the measurement I make into each "New Value" field.

This works every time for me.

allroad55...check the Level Control coding for your allroad. Is it set for 25500? Notice the "5" for the front and rear reference height identifying the 402 millimeters height. Here's my coding:

Address 34: Level Control Labels: 4Z7-907-553.lbl
Part No: 4Z7 907 553 E
Component: - 2C1A1 D040
Coding: 25500
Shop #: WSC 09999

If I wanted to lower the height of every corner 12 millimeters from the factory's design, I simply add 12 millimeters to each of my "real" measurements. The suspension ECU then lowers the height 12 millimeters too much (to an actual height 390 millimeters).

If I want to go back to factory specs, I enter the actual measurements I make without adding or subtracting any amount.
