Default from what i've heard - those numbers are VW/Audi's internal oil specs ...

Volkswagen Part No: G 052 167 A2, a special 5W-40 synthetic motor oil (only available at authorized Audi and Volkswagen Dealers).

Default 505 was required for the RS6. Think other gasoline engines are spec'd for 502.

Per a tech bulletin from late last year. That being said, they're constantly updating the spec, but the changes are minor. Has been at various times been 501 and 503.
