Which is right in line with the % reduction I paid for my '02 when I bought it one year old with 11,000 miles on it in '03. MSRP was $47K, paid $34K for it as a Assured, one year old car. This car is not one, but 2 years old with more miles on it. MSRP $50K, so applying the same percent reduction, this one should be 36-37K. Not 43K. And especially after being insulted with a $14k trade offer and them telling me that the allroad is discontinued and doesn't hold resale value. Can't have it both ways.

CarMax offered $13.5k two weeks ago. Admittedly, I'm in TN where there's basically no market, and my Autotrader ad has been out for 3+ months so the buyer (ironically, from New Orleans) got a great deal b/c I have my new car and needed the space.
But I started at $22K and had no interest whatsoever. A couple of price reductions later I was at $19.5 and got a couple of calls but no buyers. Was about to drop to $18K and the buyer turned up. Again, unusual circumstances, but both the Audi dealer arrogance and deep Audi depreciation are real.
As my wife said, "This is nicer than any under $20K car out there. I can't believe its not selling!"
On the other hand, I'm enjoying my '02 911 Targa, so the only thing lost is money.

their minds, only people not buying new is going to change their minds unfortunately. I know it's hard for us as consumers to keep from buying "stuff" though. : )

who always bought new before...not only are some of us upside down on loans (given 'Ed's numbers some of us who bought off leases still got clobbered, two years later)but I've done all the driving I can do of other cars and can't find anything comparable that wouldn't empty the bank account, especially considering the depreciation (circular logic for sure)...the only good thing that I have noticed is that if you scan the ads for '01 BMW and other German cars you see they are taking a hit too....but they didn't used to, so actually what changed? And wouldn't any of us be silly to buy one new at that rate? Find a good Indy first
(or be very handy) then buy a good used one and run it until it falls apart. That is my strategy, now if I can just find a consistently good person to work on mine.

In NJ it seems that the dealer cannot keep them. People either keep their leased allroad or once a return leased allroad is back at the dealer it gets sold right away....
