ECS Tuning has the V8 belly pan for $800 so the metal one (if they make it) is the way to go.

There is a company over seas that I found that carries steel skid plates for both the V6 and V8 allroad. I'm not sure of the quality but they are fairly cheap before shipping (118 Euros) and they have both the engine and trans skid plates.

I never even though of this. I want one now :P but i'll probably just measure my oem one and cut a thin steel one for myself.

On my A6, i threw the pan out after i bent it in the snow. Thought it's a $200 part, didnt realize how expensive it was. I never ended up replacing it or inquiring of the cost.

I have no idea what the difference is between the 2.7 and 4.2 belly pans? Has anyone ever had them side by side to compare them?

Stalk ebay. I see them posted every now and then... I bought my set, both engine and tranny pan for $80 shipped recently...
