Hi,
I bought a used factory cargo box for my '04 allroad a while back. At Christmastime we were headed out of town and I wanted to use the box for extra space (it gets tight with all five of my family plus luggage). However, it appears I don't have the mounting hardware to attach the box to the roof rack.
How is the cargo box supposed to be attached to the roof rack crossbars? Is there a separate Audi part number I should order, or an aftermarket supplier?
I have the factory crossbars.
Thanks for your help!
Best,
Chris

I am presuming that you have the base load bars. In that case you mount the box by screing in "U" screws - that bolt around the bars and screw in with a wing nut etc on the inside of the bar. If the "U" screw you have (tongue twister) wont fit around your load bars then you may need different "U" screws and may have to drill holes in your box so it lines up.

I purchased the factory bars and my Thule box mounts perfectly. I noticed that Thule has a new and improved mounting system that is much better than the previous U-bolt type of system. Looks like it will have much better clamping pressing. Do a Google search on "Thule Quick-Grip". From what I can tell, you can retrofit older Thule systems with the new grip. ... and around the base load bar, and have wing nuts to tie it all down to the base load bar?
