Default Final installment (buh, dum, ching) of my latch fix --

In case anyone forgets my woes --

The part came to fix it on Tuesday (Thanks Carson @ Riverside). With the in-laws in town, installing a fireplace, and some other chores, it was this am before I could complete the fix. I've been driving around the last 2 weeks (when i actually drove the car) without the interior trim over the latch mechanism.

I was surpised by two things -- one, how cheap the part was (less than $60 with my ACNA discount) and two, how complete it was when i got it.

So, to remove the old mechanism -- you first need to remove the all the wire connections adn the latch connections (thin wire bars connection the lock mechanism to the actual latch, then the handles (yes there are two of them and the left and right are independent) from the latch assembly. You 'release' the tabs on the inside of the door that pass through the latch assembly and pull the handles out slightly. They can actually come all the way out of the trunk but it's not necessary.

Next, unbolt the latch assembly but be aware, the lock mechanism comes out with it. Bentley/alldata warns of this so i was prepared;-)

Remove the assembly, take new assembly and bolt it into place (putting the lock barrel into the new assembly).

attach the handles through the new assembly.

attach wires and connecting pins.

Reassemble the latch trim, emergency triangle, and sunshade.

Done. The two 'keys' to this repair are getting the sunshade out to remove the rear trim piece and removing the latch handles before remove the latch/lock assembly.

I know this is an old thread.. but please, please, please where can I order this part? I have the exact same problem, even the shear line from the break looks identical.
