Hey guys and gals,
How did you mount your Valentine 1 radar detector? I also bought the concealed display .. went all the way with V1 and will be getting it tomorrow.
How did you install yours ... PICS PLEASE !!!!
Will appreciate any tips on the installation.
Did you attempt to conceal your detectors ????

...on the dash next to the A-pillar, hardwired. (I have a Passport, and I did remove the logo and so on from it, so it's just a little innocent-looking -- ha -- gray box sitting there.) HPH

I mounted the main unit under the inside edge of the driver's side sun visor (actually cliped around a CD holder that wraps around the visor). I put a little padding between the visor and the roof so the visor now hangs roughly horizontally with the V1 attached. The unit is hard-wired along the windshield (with about 3 inches of wire exposed). The wire feeds behind the little central sun flap and under the molding at the rear view mirror mount, then down the driver's side A-pillar to the fuse box.
The concealed display is installed on the dashboard. I like sitting pretty high up, so it only would block the gear change display if I had a tip, but with the six-speed it doesn't block any of the display.
In this position the concealed display just becomes part of the dash instrument package and is very easy to monitor while driving. I usually use the main unit when I mute the audio. The headroom is a little tight when I wear a hat, but it works for me.

Not only has it saved my butt numerous times, when I did get stopped (at night) the officer didn't notice the unit. I think its a lot more stealthy than mounting on the windshield. The only downside with this method is that you can't use the sun visor as a shade any more.
Good Luck,

I use the suction cups between the driver's visor and the upper console. If you pull down the sunroof control panel, you'll find a taped bundle of wires, with a hot one to tap into using your V1 install kit. (Use a voltmeter to find the hot one). Use one of the screws for the ground. Fish the power lead to the detector through the headliner behind the mirror and above the windshield. If I have time tomorrow, I'll take pics and look at the color of the wire that I used for the hot....also check the tech section here for install tips.

and mounted the main unit above the mirror on the passanger side. Still below the tint and can see backwards.

http://gryphon.wyldwood.com/allroad/V1/</a

and no problems. The link included above is quite helpful for the hardwire. I installed the main unit above the rear view mirror (bottom actually rests on the mirror for some support) on the top part of the windshield with the suction cups. It is very unobtrusive, especially in public parking, but is also in a very visible spot for monitoring. The rear detector is also unobstructed in this position.
