front axle boot worn - how much should I expect to pay?

Time to replace depends on how hard it is to remove the pinch bolt..
If the pinch bolt comes out without issue 1 hour per side (I'd do both) If the pinch bolt is frozen all bets are off.

Check the tech section for Cv replacement and follow the path to avoiding the pinch bolt.
You will need a proper clmap style ball joint splitter and not the fork type but that is about it.
I have replaced both front airbags and axles without ever touching the pinch bolt. I know mine are siezed and I am too lazy to do battle.

Actually it is easier to unbolt the arm at the subframe. The whole thing will swing out. Eliminates
possible damage to ball joint too. I did both of mine this way. Not too hard just dirty.

Ditto,
I just didn't want to get into huge technical explanantion so kept in line with the tech article. I did my axles by undoing the ball joint but learned the better method in time to do the airbags.
