Meant to be 2.7T.

Mods, can I get the "edit" option?

HP-2 uses 4-pad design, regular are 2-pad design.
Thanks for clarification. Does the HP2 have 4 pistons as well as 4 pads? If not, how do a single piston operate on two pads?

And are the HP2 pads more expensive (there's more of 'em)?

HP 2 has two pistons. Each piston operates two pads in the same manner the rear brake has two pads operated by one piston(one brake pad on each side of the rotor).

HP-2 has 2 pistons, each operating a pair (inner and outer pad).

HP-2 pads are not as common because far fewer Audis came with them. But they are an excellent choice for this heavy car.

My A6 has them (since it's a 4.2), my Allroad doesn't.

Yet (assuming I have HP2s), my braking's not great. In fact, it's bad, almost dangerous.

I'm going to change the pads and see if that produces an improvement. The ones I have don't seem to have any bite.

I agree - on the face of it, a 4-pad disc brake should be half way to having a Big Brake Kit. How come they went backwards with the later 2-pad brake?

Something is wrong with your brakes. My Allroad with standard brakes stops very well. You wont be able to tell the difference unless you slam the brakes fully, and when the brakes are seriously hot.

Don't be quick to dismiss standard brakes. They're much more than just adequate.

The real deal is get stainless steel brake lines, the Front Brake Caliper Stiffening Bushing Kit ( 4 pad brake setup ) $95 from tyrolsport.com, Zimmerman rotors & Hawk HPS pads. Don't forget to flush your brake line with high performance brake fluid.
You will definitely feel the improvement in braking. I ran my ar stage1 with this setup at Pocono HPDE and had a blast. Was one of the slowest on the straights ( real heavy wagon ) but on their *** in the curves. No brake fade. The Hawk HPS do give off dust but not as much as OEM pads

How are those compared to the EBC Red?
I'm a lil' late here but, Akebonos rule !

Super low dust, great feel/performance, no noises, low price. Great street pad IMO.

I wasn't impressed with any of the EBCs, even on the track (though it was an entirely different car than the allroad) I do run EBC greens on the 500E, they are just 'OK'. I won't buy them again.

Posi Centric Ceramics are pretty good too for the money, I run them on my RS6. But not quite as low dust as advertised.

Default cayenne 18Z calipers

Can these calipers be used with the existing discs for starters, my brakes at the moment are ATE calipers, single pot with 320mm discs, eliminating the need for getting merc discs?
