Default Front pad and rotor replacement questions.

I am doing front pads and rotors this weekend. Pads are pretty easy and I have done before but not rotors (at least not on this car). There are at least 2-3 excellent writeups on pads that include pictures but no real tips on rotors?

Any surprises or is it standard 2 bolts, lube slides, replace etc etc etc? I have 2001 w/dual piston HP2s.

Normally I wouldn't ask such a newbie question but I was in a terrible fight once w/my wife's Honda Pilot and it's rear rotors that involved a torch, impact driver and a sledgehammer hence I am a little apprehensive with the rotors. Anyone who has seen those little screws that Honda has to hold rotors on knows what I am talking about.

Thank you,

Joe 2001 6 sp, hitch, h-sport etc.

Default Fairly straight forward if you follow the write-ups. I found the caliper bolts to be VERY tight.

Otherwise, no surprises and a pretty easy DIY

Default That's what I'm afraid of. The caliper bolts. It took me a few days to take them off of...

...my Porsche's Brembos. That was the worst part of it all. Although it seems that the allroad has more room to maneuver around in the wheel well. I have a 3ft breaker bar that I call "The Convincer" - if you get something like that you'll be all set.

Default LOL, I have a large breaker bar too. What kind of porsche?

I had a 1968 911L (see pic poster) until about a year ago. I still miss it. Additionally, similar examples in worse shape are now selling for about 5K more than I sold mine...so that really makes it especially fun.

Default hp2s, You don't loosen caliper bolts

Jacking up the car and taking the wheel off is the hardest part.
The rest is like playing connect 4.
Spread apart caliper
remove spring retainer,
remove and repace pads.

Default You don't need to take caliper off, just take out top caliper bolt, loosen bottom bolt, spread pads,

flip caliper down, and remove rotor.
