Default Has anyone had the dealer flash a different code into their Tip ECM?...

I've been complaining about the throttle/ boost lag on my car since I got it. In my case, when I pull away from a stop, if I don't get off the brake fast enough before hitting the gas, there is a 4-5 second period during which I have no (0)boost. Happens every 5th or 6th stop for me, especially since I left foot brake. Loaners allroads and A6 2.7's haven't been nearly this bad.

Anyway, tech supposedly flashed a different code into the Tip ECM to "fix" this. Won't get the car back for a few more days- waiting for parts to fix the leaky suspension- so I haven't driven it yet.

Anyone have any experience with this??

Default That's BTL syndrome... Brake-Throttle-Lag>>>> Please keep us informed on this

It's not likely to be fixed by a reflash in the ECM of the TIP but anything is possible. I didn't know you could flash the tranny control module???!

I would like to see a copy of the workorder for this problem...

Default My fear too, but we can all hope......

I doubt it'll fix or reduce anything, but I'll reserve judgment until I get my car back.

Could be that my allroad is worse than most, since the last loaner I had- an '04 allroad- was nowhere near as bad as mine. It would stay off boost for a couple of seconds and then build boost. My car won't build boost for 5 or more seconds most of the time, though usually, I just get off the throttle and immediately back on s I can accelerate into traffic.

Default Lag still there. Use 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, better response

But A Giac Tranny chip will give you quicker shifts.
Stock 0-60 was a best of 6.45 seconds usually between 6.45 and 6.60. With the Tranny chip it was 6.15-6.30. That was using only 1 shift 1-2, since 2nd goes past 60mph. In 1/4 mile it was about a .25-.40 difference at the strip, which added the 2-3 shift.
The Giac chip "may" also hunt in Tip mode between 4th and 5th at 4000rpm's. But with all it pluses, I say it out weighs this quirk.
YOu should have driven my car, maybe next time.

Double post. The GIAC doesn't bear on this issue.

Default Thats why I started by saying, "Lag is still there". Maybe I should have typed it better. : )

You are correct the tip chip really doesnt address that issue.

Default You're right...

should have driven your beast while I was out there. But I'm always uncomfortable driving someone else's car in unfamiliar territory in the rain.

Next time, though, I'll definitely take you up on that.

Default How is your trans holding up with the additional torque?

Have you noticed clutch wear (progressively softer shifts)?

Default There is a program in the modual that prevent you from doing the tork stall launch

Mine does the same as yours, 4 to 5 sec of nothing. rr is right 1/2 to 3/4 input and your launched.
