Has anyone tried to replace the front lower control arm bushings on an allroad?

Has anyone every tried to press these in?

I did the uppers with a press that I bought at Harbor Freight. The local VW shop says they tried to replace just the bushings in the past but just bent the control arm. They suggest that I replace the arm at ~ $300.00 a piece.
Thanks,
Wendel

as in, a big torch and a high tolerance for burning rubber to get the old one out. Baking it in the oven might be worth a try. The aluminum should expand more than the steel bushing, loosening it up some. If it works, post some pictures so we can follow your lead!

I have already changed the upper bushings with the press that I bought. That went pretty well without a torch so I don't see why the lower one will be much different.
Does anyone know where I can get some urethane bushings or "higher grade" bushings than the generic ones on the Internet?
I'll be sure to post some pictures or make a wiki article about it if I do it.

I'm going for it. I actually found the bushing for $30.00 at www.europartsdirect.com.
I'll post a follow up when I get the parts.
BTW I want to thank everyone on the forums. While I have not posted much I have used the data on this site to maintain my 02 allroad. Everything from a coolant temperature sending unit to a timing belt change.
This will just be another adventure in the suspension system sort of like an air bag replacement with a twist.
