Default Help with 2.7t serpentine belt

So I spent 2 hrs trying to get the serpentine belt on my 01 2.7t6sp allroad... had the new tensioner compressed as far as it would go, Should it be this hard? (still didn't get the belt on)

Either I have the wrong belt, or the wrong tensioner. I don't think I routed the belt wrong at all.

334 1 09052010 044 also on my belt 6 PK 1856.

that belt shouldn't take more than 3 minutes to get on/off if your tensioner is loose..

are you reaching down try to do it or have the front end off and its in front of you?

Reaching down, bumper still on. I have the tensioner bolted all the way in and I'm compressing it with the 17mm.

Should I wrap the belt around all the pully's and lastly push the belt over the tensioner roller? (I had it snaked around and was trying to push it up over of the TOP (waterpump?) pully last.)

really shouldn't be that hard to put the belt on if it is tensioned over. when I had this issue I realized I wasn't putting enough torque on the tensioner.

it really needs a lot of torque to turn it. I used a breaker bar/cheater bar over the 17mm.

What brand is your belt?
continental belts are smaller on these particular application, we always go original which even though it reads the same length is actually 6 mm longer, enough to jump it on top of the pulley

Apparently I had one that was smaller (it was some german brand that a local German only supply shop had given me.). I'm running a crappy autozone belt for now, until I can make it over to the dealership and get OEM. Autozone listed 2 sizes, so I got the one size up, piece of cake.
