Help.. I am new to this but really need some help, I'm not mechanically savvy, and I am out of the country so AR spares are hard to come by. Had an issue with my Ar which would not shift from 2nd to 3rd and would default to safe mode...had to drive a couple kms in reverse once!! The issue was diagnosed as a faulty gearbox.. after painfully parting with a huge sum of money my mech "found" me a reasonable good gearbox. We put the gear box in and we got ecu errors not matching... we tried everything to reconfigure the ecu to read the new gearbox nothing... it wont shift out of second and if you hard press it to push the revs up it defaults to safe mode... back to square one... so we purchased a new ecu.. same problem... on further diagnostics, same errors and immediate safe mode ... who can help...? Mech says audi engines come synchronized with the gearbox's and are proprietary??? and need to be recoded to read he's suggesting a complete engine and gearbox replacement... Help!!! Just found out that he's using a gearbox from a 2002 Petrol AR... helpp...
