Help me figure out this noise...

Shut the car off last night in the garage, unloaded some stuff from the trunk and walked by the car on the right side.
I hear this very faint, "honk", "honk", "honk" coming from the right rear wheel area etc...
Car is off, nothing on inside, suspension not moving - yet under or very near the right rear wheel (maybe inside the body) the dang thing is "honking" like a very muffled sounding alarm activation noise. Car is not locked and I cannot hear it when I turn it back on.
This morning it was not "honking".
What the heck could it be in and around that rear quarter panel?
Any ideas?

It is probably the fuel expansion tank doing its job... it has been a hot summer Definitely try what gragravar said.. loosen gas cap and see if it goes away -make sure gas cap is on tight after that...
P.S. Hey A! Does gragravar short/stand for anything T
