Default Hi All...What are my options for installing an after market sat nav system?

I own a 2001 2.5 TDI ar to which I have grown very attached. When we bought it it did not have sat nav but now I'd like to install one (NOT a dash-attached Tomtom, but a proper after market job).

I understand that installing an Audi system would be a very tough process since the car was not sold "sat nav ready" and lacks the wiring, GPS ariel and a whole mess of other stuff.

Can anyone off me some guidance on this?

Many thanks.

There is a lot of expertise out there with installing a Nav+. It's easier than you think. Check out nav-plus.com for more info. You could also ping teddybgame for ideas, he is Mr interior mod man on audiworld.

Default Check on the A6 forum. Boston Driver updated his to later Nav with little

issues, though don't recall the sat part.

I got a head unit from an '04 that's sat ready, found the XM module and other parts on eBay, and had TeddyBeGame build me one of his famous harnesses to interface everything together. All in, less than $450 for everything and it's all factory except for the harness, and that included building the harness to IceLink to my iPod.

Default Add at least $1100 to that number and 100+hrs of research/install time for DIY, still worth it tho

If you can find an installer with exp go 4 it, unless you like to tinker

I started paid $1450 in a risky wire ur money txn to Holland, sent wrong harness, + new harness + bad dvd rips + Albainian spyware on my pc
+ pulling dash/cluster/radio numerous times

The whole process took a few months

Would I do it again, absaf*kinlutley, its nicey

Default The OEM RNS-E nav install is pretty straight forward...

The is quite a market in the USA for these units and there are many brokers. As Mentioned the Navplus forum is a good place to go. There are a couple of European brokers that can probably help you out.
