My AR is experiencing a high pitch whine located right rear of the engine. It occurs only on cold starts and lasts several minutes. Is this the tell tale sign of something going amiss in the secondary air injection system? Thanks

One thing you might check is your power steering fluid level.

its the secondary air injection pump. Without a doubt.

Very common noise. Mine has been doing it for years. Some have replaced them. Modulemasters.com will rebuild it for not too much $$.

... mine has made the noise for over a year - and no problems - I asked my Audi tech and he said it is very normal
