Here is the email I just got from Audi
"For the first time a factory-authorized trailor hitch will be offered as an
option for the Allroad; it should now be available at your local dealer.
The towing capacity is about 3300 pounds."

Their spelling not mine.

Please provide an update when the dealer actually gets them in and is in a position to install them, as this news is totally contrary to what Audi Client Relations told me - that the hitch would not be made available until October or November at the earliest. If this was just bad information then I must say it reflects very poorly on Audi's communications within their own company. Prior to contacting Audi directly my dealer could not seem to get a straight answer on this through their channels.

Anyway if what you learned turns out to be true I may decide to reorder the allroad (which I cancelled for lack of an available towing pkg). The MDX which I've since ordered instead will not be even built until May - they are in serious demand here and this is the wait if you want one at MSRP.

I checked again with the parts mgr. at my dealer, and he did not have any further word as to when the hitch will be available.
