Audi to buy Arrows
German motor manufacturer Audi could be on the verge of signing a deal to rescue financially struggling Formula One team Arrows, according to industry reports. Audi and parent company VW have toyed with the idea of entering F1for some time now. This might be their chance.

I've read about this rumor at Atlas and the thought of Audi in F1 is entertaining, yet I think it's risky. F1 is so competitive these days that if the team doesn't have the right package it will not succeed.

This year's Ferrari was unbelievable. Michael & Rubens basically walked away from everyone. I know BMW is frustrated about not being more competitive w/ Ferrari. If Audi does came back to F1, I hope they are:

1) 100% committed
2) Realistic w/ their goals (initially, at least)

With the new FIA rules set for 2003, many already feel that this favors Ferrari next year. This doesn't bode well for other teams.

That being said, Toyota has done a very respectable job in their first season of F1, and they started from scratch. So, Audi can have very positive results in F1, but they will need to be completely committed, no doubt.
