Default How big a kid can fit in the 3rd row seat?

I am looking for an AR with a third row seat, but am concerned how long my kids will fit in it. I saw one post that said the seat was designed to fit a maximum 50" tall, 70 lb. child.

That would only give me about a year of use until my twins outgrow it. Does anyone with a 3rd row seat have a measurement of the distance from the seat to the ceiling? Thanks.

Default Have not measured, but it is small back there. Not for teenagers etc.

I once shoehorned a very petite sister-in-law back there. She was not comfortable.

It is really for small children. I can measure if you like. How old are the twins?

Default It's not that big... I have 3rd row seats and my niece.....

who is 2 1/2 can sit comfortably. My better half is 5 ft 105 lbs and she cannot sit in there without being in the fetal position.

I will meassure for you tonight and post

Default Mine's not in the car, but

I'd say 50" child height is about right.

The seat bottom's prolly 4-6" above the empty load floor. Leg room would be a problem, too, as it sits very low to the floor driving the knees up in the air.

I only use it when we have out-of-town guests (mother-in-law, mainly). Otherwise, you're better off with a car with more room. The safety of these rear-facing seats so close to the rear bumper has also been questioned... one more reason I use it rarely.

Not on my budget. 3rd seats only in 2001-02, which is right price range.

Default Nine year old no longer fits

but up until recently, you couldn't get him out of the back. He absolutely loved riding in a seat that was kid sized, and that had reading lights and a floor that he could reach while belted.
