How sensitive is our alarm's motion sensor? Can a fly set it off?
My wife just called me from work and she says here alarm was set off when she thinks there was no one near the car. While I was on the phone with her it went off again. She is sure no one touched the car.
It's a sunny hot day here and she left the sunroof partially open as well as the windows down and inch. I checked the manual and short of opening a contact like hood/doors only the cabin motion sensor could be activated. I can only think of flies/bugs flying through and setting the alarm off. But is it so sensitive that flies would set it off?
I told her how to disable the motion sensor and see if that works.

wind will do it if the windows or roof are open a little
it's the pressure sensor, the thing that notices if the windows are smashed in, there's a switch to disable it but I forget where

It's left of the driver's seat in the aft of the door opening.
If the windows or sunroof are open at all, you MUST disable the motion sensor. If you don't, then any kind of breeze sets off the alarm.

Pressing the disable button only works until the next ignition cycle.
Yes, the breeze through the open windows is easily enough to set off the alarm. You can do a "permanent" disabling of the motion detector via VAG. That worked for me all last summer. For some reason, my alarm recently started going off again. Perhaps it got reset in the last dealer visit.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case.
This would be useful information in the manual. They just say to do this if a pet is left in the car.
Now that she knows it's easy enough to remember to push the button as she parks outside at work. I would not want to permanently disable it via VAGCOM.
