Hi all. I just picked up a 40,000 mile 2004 allroad as a new DD. It has the typical poor braking / warped rotors.
After STFA I was wondering what the current state of thought on putting HP-2's on the allroad?
I already have a track toy so a real BBK is unnecessary (like stoptech).
As I need to raplace pads and rotors, should I just find some HP-2's and throw those on as well? Or is the upgrade marginal for the cost?
Thanks, Tom

Very very over rated upgrade, waste of time /money IMHO. Get decent pads/ rotors on the G60s and they're just as good. HP2 is actually a very weak brake caliper. The pads are also cheaper for the G60s, get a set of Carbotech Bobcats, and your good to go.

I'm curious, why is it a weak caliper?

The main point for the upgrade IMHO is that there are more choices available for brake pads.
I can say that given a better pads the Stock calipers would do fine, just not for performance driving but everyday use.--I had my stock calipers on Limerock with OEM.. smoked the pads and killed them by day's end.
I did the mod some time ago. Back then I could not buy good performance oriented pads for the ar and the 2 pad set up.
I'm very pleased with the PBR Metal Master Pads. I'm now on my second set for the HP2 set up.

I also believe the HP-2s are worth it for the same reason as Paul availability of brake pads. The pads for the OEM 2 pad system are really not very good. I converted the 02 to HP-2s with PBR metal masters which as far superior to OEM. The 04 4.2 has the HP-2 calipers so this fall the metal masters will be installed. The S4 HP-2s will fit the ar.

Thanks for the replies guys. Still looking for the HP-2s but I really need to do my brakes in the next two weeks.
Are the stainless lines a decent upgrade on this car?
