Default where are you located? isn't this the 861? that's not available...

in north america? i tried a thule europe retailer and they wouldn't ship to u.s.
the u.s. thule distributor would not verify the product even existed and under no condition would sell parts or service the product.

i think the audi oem is close if not the same product but i couldn't find any sources for add ons beside vw/audi.
where did you get it??
cheers

Default i went thru a lot of trouble to find these too....

im in sf, cali. they are the 861. i probably went thru the same thing u did. i searched all over. even ebay germany and uk retailers-online, but most dont ship overseas. so i poked around the internet and found ONLY one place that ships to me. yes the oem shape is slightly off a little in design and functionality. these aerobars are a perfect oval shape. only deal is u need t-bolts to hold your attachments. so im the first one to get these in NA?<ul><li><a href="http://www.outdoorsports.com/osc/crd/item.asp?dept_id=16&amp;product_id=861">http://www.outdoorsports.com/osc/crd/item.asp?dept_id=16&amp;product_id=861</a</li></ul>

Default I'm in the same area. So do you prefer the thule over the OEM Audi's?

If so why? I need to get those pretty soon and your comments will definitely help me.
Thanks,
Martin

Default i've had a box of the t bolts for about 14 months. but i could only find...

a couple of items that would interface with the t-bolts, again because the usual assortment of thule/yakima carriers (bike, board, ski, boat) would only mate with the round/square cross bars. the t-bolts do fit in the audi/vw bars but, still no carriers seem to attach.

i even looked at the saris racks which are aero with the channels. a very good product from a great family biz up north, but since i already owned 3 systems opted not to buy.

thanks for the link, i'll look a bit. what carrier models did you find that attach?

you might just be the first. wanna buy a box of thule europe t-bolts?? i gave blood to have these smuggled into the usa so i keep watch for a customs agent at my door.
cheers

Default ...hardly the "first in North America" ..maybe the last.

Rackwarehouse.com sold them before they were discontinued in NA. Here are some pix from last fall...<ul><li><a href="http://homepage.mac.com/gulfstar44/PhotoAlbum5.html">http://homepage.mac.com/gulfstar44/PhotoAlbum5.html</a</li></ul>

Got them from Rackwarehouse last year, but they don't carry them anymore.

Default yes...

if you look at the thread from Gulfstar44's pic gallery link, you will see they are a diff. shape from oem, aero-oval, oem-triangular shape w/one corner flat. u can see this in the audi site, in the lifestyle rack install video. there are no tools involved compared with the oem with seem a lot more troublesome. aerobars work like the thule 751 bars, turn clockwise and counterclockwise for the 755 feet to hold the rails.

Default i went to..

a shop called sportrack vehicle outfitters here in cali. they do installs and custom work. they have t-bolts available. the guy said the t-bolts will work with any thule attachment, except for the pulltop, which is what i bought together with the aero bars. the pull top was apparently designed after the aerobars were manufactured. he helped me cut the t-bolts to 5/8 of an inch to get it to fit for the sliding carrier. for the other thule attachments, the bolts require no cutting he said. i dont had any other attachments yet. thule bike rack to come in the summer so i'll see how it turns out.
