I was talking about the new A6 and A6 Avant with the sales guy and he mentioned they may not be making a 2012 Avant. When I asked why, he said they're considering bringing back the Allroad.
If it comes out, I'm selling my '05 4.2 and getting the 2012.

As far as I can see, the best US news about the Allroad was the interview with Audi of America President Johan De Nysschen posted on Youtube and posted on AOA facebook page from Jan 11 2011. When asked about the Allroad, he acknowledged the Allroad fanbase, and said "We should heed the call from those devoted fans" ".watch this space" with a wry smirk on his face. THIS CAN ONLY BE GOOD! His face alone was telling.

Only 250 A4 allroads were limited sold in Japan.
Specification as follows.
4705mm x 1825mm x 1505mm
1730kg
1984cc
"4" cylinders DOHC Turbo
211ps
35.7kg-m
7AT(tip)
F/R 245/45R18
No level control system.
Height is totally fixed at level 2 by coilover.
No sunroof.
No parking sensor.
No Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Narrow backseat.
No seat heater in backseat.
No sunshade in rear window.
5850000JPY = 70kUSD!!
Brake and tranny seem to be nice.
Minorities are interesting in it.
I think it's NOT good deal and not reasonable price.
But A4 allroad forum already started in Japan.

I hope they bring back the AR!
I'm assuming no 4.2 will be available as audi is phasing that motor out and you can't get it on the Q7 anymore.
I think one of the new supercharged v6's with an 8 speed auto would really do well in one.
About the only design complaint I have about my AR is that it's geared really low, and in 5th at 80 mph its nearly at 3000 rpm. Another 3 gears would probably make it sip gas.

We've looked at lots of new cars to replace my wife's '04 Allroad, but we can't find anything that comes close to offering the quality, sophistication, features and luxury that her current car does, let alone at an affordable price.
If Audi brings the AR back, (even in the A4 size which has now grown to be about the same as our current car), I doubt it would have air suspension or a number of the features that the current car has - so would it really be an allroad?
Given the price of the current A6 avant, I couldn't afford one anyway.....
I guess we'll just keep the old one running instead.....
