Default I need to transport skis on my roof and need recommendations

Ideally I'd like to simply use my existing roof rails and buy a ski rack for 4 skis. Any rec's?
Also, I have a Yakima rack in the garage for this car and can use this for mounting if necessary. Also, where can I buy this on Long Island (I don't want it shipped)?

Default I'd suggest a top box from yakima or thule that will mount to your bars

keeps all the road grime off your skis and bindings.

I believe thule makes 'wide mouth' adapters to fit any x-bar.

Default I have a yakima rack and box, works great Nov-Apr for ski hauling duty.

Add up my wife's and my skis and bindings, and you're looking at almost 2 grand. For me, the $250 cost of a box is well worth the expense to keep, as Grag said, the road grime and debris off my sticks.

Default 3rd. Plus, boxes are quieter than exposed skis-on-racks.

More expensive, but worth it IMO.

Default 4th - plus you can toss snowshoes and other wet gear up there too.

I notice the cargo area is much cleaner when I have the box on.

Default I have Yakima FatCat 4 ski carriers and have been more than happy with them.

I can only think of 1 set of ski racks(its a thule model I think) that mounts to existing roof rails.

And I would just buy online, you can find exactly what you want, for the cheapest possible price, and shipping usually only takes a few days at most.

I use the Packasport box with thule bars on the factory roof rack, clean look with great box feature
