I smoked my Kumho ECSTA ASX in 7K miles? They are the stock 225/55/17. Yes the tires are performance oriented but I was expecting at least 20K out of them.
What are you guys with stock tire pressures running to maximize tread life. I normally run around 33-34 psi. What does 33 psi cold tire pressure convert to when the tires are hot?
They are worn pretty evenly, but the driver side tires front and rear are overall in a little better shape all around.
I know I should have rotated them sooner but 7K miles with my wife doing most of the driving.
I toasted a set of Dunlop SP 8000 on a 94 probe GT but I was 18 and pushed the car 110% every time I drove it.
Any ideas or explanation of what could have been the cause of such poor tread wear.
BTW I just pulled the max load specs off of Tire Rack and it states 1509lbs? WTF, that oviously can't be the max weight of the vehicle they go on or they would only be suitable for a Lotus Elise.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+ASX

I've never gotten more than 15000 out of any tire. I concider any tire with less than 1/3 tread shot. The compound chnages as the tire wear. Sticky tires only have max grip for maybe the first 50% after that it a harder compound that lasts longer but grips less. And the allroad is tough on tires. You should have the car aligned at the level you drive most. The alignment changes at different hieghts. The soft bushings attempt to minimize this, but it can't be escaped.

I am ready to replace the ones on my wife's car after about 8k miles. The right rear wore faster than the others. I checked the ride height on level one and found that the right rear was about 1 inch higher than the left. I adjusted the height with the VAG-COM and there was no evidence of uneven wear on the snows that have been on the car for the last 5 months.
