Default I was a sucker.....

Well I went to court in Fairfield NJ last Thursday... and like many I was offered the no point ticket "unsafe driving" for my 90mph in 65mph zone. Price $439 ($150 ticket, $39 court fee and the famous NJ $250 surcharge....) Although I was aware being a PA driver no points would be added to my PA license , when talking to the judge and wanting to go for a trial, he put a doubt in my mind, and basically told me that that was a 5 points tickets and it would be pretty bad for my license.... and PA had reciprocity law with NJ. So went ahead with the No points.

Later on I called the PA DMV and asked again. I was told that eventhough there is a reciprocity agreement, PA does not add any points coming from NJ for any speeding tickets and nothing is added to the record. They get notified by the NJ MVC but that is the extend of it as long as you pay the fee. It is only for serious offenses like DUI/DWI... that it gets transferred. So basically I got sucked! At least I know what to do now.....

Funny thing is people who were given 2 points for being a few miles above the speed limit pay that dreaded $439 fine! The NJ money making machine at his best!

Default Maybe, the real risk is yoru insurance co. finding out. They might have seen the points even

if PA didn't directly add them to your record.

Yes maybe... but I doubt they do. I talked to my insurance rep in PA and she paid the ticket and got the NJ points, but nothing on her record in PA and her insurance did not go up....

Default You mean the NJ Toilet at its best...

God knows where that money goes - right into someones pocket this state is so corrupt.

My wife had a 55 in a 25 and they wouldn't let her go with the no pointer - told her she is lucky they don't slap her with reckless driving and a month suspension (give me a break). She still denies it and I believe her. She has been driving for 20 years without a ticket. They ended up knocking it down to 10 over and a 2 pt charge that they will drop in a year if she gets no more tickets. Allstate has a "forgiveness" policy for one offense. We shall see how it plays out, but I am glad we didn't give the extra "tax" money to the state and likely to someone's pocket.

Thanks for the info if I ever get burned out on NJ - I am only 20 miles to the PA border
