Default An idea(blackout hood)

Basically, put a big, satin/matte black vinyl sticker on part of the hood.

Pros:
-Should reduce glare from hood when driving in the sun.
-Protect the paint from rocks, road debris, and the sun.
-Looks good. Why not try something different?

Cons:
-Could look too "ricey"

What do you guys think of this idea?

Samples of what im talking about:

I hear what you are thinking man, but I hope you don't get many rock chips up that high.

I have the 3M stuff on my wife's AR, but it is much thicker. Ideal setup might be to get the 3M stuff, than have it painted flat black.

I would consider doing somthing a little different. I think it could play well off the black roof.

I think I like it when nearly all of the hood is black, but not 100%.

I actually have clear bra on my car too(though it is old and starting to get hazy. The "protection" bullet point was more of me creating excuses to justify it.

And I definantly agree that it could work well with the bumpers and roof already being black. However, I would be hesitant to cover too much of the hood, because it might be "too much" with that and the bumper...and incase they are different shades of black, it could look noticably goofy if they are close together.

The reason that Rovers and other offroad vehicles have them is to reduce the amount of glare. Especially when running roof rack mounted lights at night. Not sure if you would get any other benefit (rocks etc)

I agree with the partial hood idea ala Charger. Post pics if you figure it out.

It would look better, IMHO, to go further down the hood than in your photoshop picture.

It would fit better than in s4 due to red dash and panelboard too,
