last time I've seen it (4 days ago) it was still in one piece. And I'm sure Danny is waiting for me to make a move before he rips the engine.

...APB for an APB.
Seriously, my spirit would be crushed by this. Kudos to you for rebuilding.
Make sure you check the AZ forums... there is at least one 2.7T Block for sale there.

http://audizine.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=41</a

The Sarge option sounds tempting but, the cost is painfull! Perhaps you can do a partial. Stay with 2.7 but have RS4 intake manifold and ported heads to match.

we have talked through various possibilities and the feeling is that gross installation error would rear it's head in far fewer than 1,000 miles. Yes, I am trusting their evaluation of the failure, but they have developed a reputation of being honest and fair and going above and beyond the call of duty for their customers.
Bottom line is that what is the alternative? Am I going to lawyer up and attempt to prove that it is their fault. That isn't going to get me very far as I have zero evidence to support such an action. I would rather maintain a positive relationship and accept their generous offers of working with me to get the car back on the road.

that must be heartbreaking. If it were me I would do #2, but I don't often win in Vegas. I recommend #2 since the rest of your car is so perfect - dropping in some scrap yard engine just seems out of place - God only knows where it has been, most likely a wreck or something. It is practical though so I can appreciate that. #4 would certainly be my second choice. Maybe the shop can cut you a deal on #2?
