Default Installed APR exhaust today in garage-initial impressions

Installed the exhaust this afternoon. Took a few hours taking my time and aligning the tips properly.

The car seems quiet, not far from stock sound. This could be since I expected low tone rumble. The car has a slight tone to it at stock and around 1500 rpm. It seems Ed's RS6 installed exhaust had more depth to it. Time will tell on it it wakes up or if it is just me.

I will be taking the car back in to get the chip reflashed since I added the exhaust. Hope to gain some added HP with the exhaust and reflash.

Oh, the tips do stick out a little-about 1 1/2 inches (measured from center of tip out from valance). Will take a little adjustment, but should be just fine.

The build quality of the APR is very nice. Exhaust is polished and fits well. Just had a small ding in the right exhaust can that must have happened during shipping.

Default Watch out for those tips... can get hot!

I put in Milltek turbo-backs - protrude about 1" from the valence. After a spirited drive stopped and got some stuff out of the back. Touched the tip with my leg and I now have a nice 3" arc scar there. I'm thinking about moving them in so they are almost flush with the valence.

03MT GIAC Stage 2+, silver/platinum, eveything except NAV.

I've heard APR is nice - good luck with the flash!

Default Can you take a pic of the "adjusted" tips?

Curious how that 1.5 inches stick out looks. I have considered this mod and have the APR chip, but with young kids and my nice unmolested shins I have held off. Miltek would be my alternative.

Default Here is a pic looking down at the pipes. They are out further and

easily an issue for getting too hot, but according to Midlifecrisis the Miltek can do the same. He stated his stick out about an inch.

And sorry about the extremely dirty car! Didn't realize it was that bad.

Default Thanks. Yeah thats better than before ...

Not as bad as I thought. Seems like a good exhaust for the money. Glad to hear its not too obnoxious.

Default Midlifecrisis had me thinking that maybe I could pull the tips in further.

I had spent most of my time aligning the tips to be in the center of the valance and equal width out from the back.

Maybe with some luck I could tap in the center pipes about another half inch or so pulling the tips closer to the valance. I might have to give it a shot when it warms up.

Default Good to hear you got it on.....

Call me about the reflash. Rumor has it that the reflash is only good if you've also added the downpipes, otherwise the stock APR software will work fine for the cat-back exhaust. (BTW, Irshad is out of the country until after the first of the year)

Default Ed, I had asked APR if it was necessary and they

said it needed to be done. I will call them again today and confirm once again. Maybe they assumed I had the downpipes. I had called GRD and already made an appointment as well. They didn't seem to question the reflash. I will check it out today. I also don't think I ever wrote your number down. I should have saved it to my phone, but couldn't find it.
