Default IS300 vs. a4 1.8T

My friend is trying to decide which to buy... an IS300 vs. the A4 1.8T. I have an IS300 02 and he said it drives pretty well... but he has his heart set on the A4 1.8T.

For me I love both cars. He said if he gets the A4 it will look like this:

If he gets the IS300 it will end up looking like this:

Any oppinions... pros/cons.. is300 vs. a4 1.8T. Which one will you pick

Lexus is currently $500 below invoice and 2.9% for 60months, not a bad deal.

I like the I300 and you WOULD have better service at the lexus dealership vs an audi

Default I like the A4 3.0 better but Lexus service is the gold standard...

Magnussen Lexus in Fremont is open 24hrs. I brought an older model LS400 to get service there, and they gave me a brand new IS300 as a loaner. Nice car, but the guages are too weird and the whole thing is a bit "ricey". Still, I would take the lexus over the 1.8 Audi, but I'd take the 3.0 Audi over the Lexus.

Reliability vs Quattro. We're obviously biased

Default Re: IS300 vs. a4 1.8T

I may be facing a similar issue, except add an Infiniti G35 into the mix. My wife didn't really like the A4 because of the seating position and reliability issues. I prefer its looks and interior, but it's underpowered when compared to the IS300 and particularly the G35. (By the way as compared to the IS300, I prefer the looks and interior of the G35, but still not as nice as the A4.) I'm really not sure of the pricing difference with an A4, but I was offered an '03 IS300 for $1,000 under invoice, and I think you can also get 2.9% financing. 2 or 2.5% over invoice for a G35 sedan (7% over invoice for the coupe, they are apparently a pretty hot item). Ultimately the G35 will cost around $3,750 more than an IS300 but the content is higher on the G35. Again, I'm not sure how the A4 prices out, but I would guess it's higher than either the IS300 or the G35. All wheel drive is nice, but it's more of a luxury than a necessity in the southeast. Of course I'm not sure where you live.
