Default Leaking water into passenger footwell....

Anyone leaking small streams of water into the passenger footwell? I notice it after rain, wash, etc....I can see the water streaming down the plastic and saturating the carpet. The leak appears to be deep in the footwell, up, behind the dash on the door side.

Take to teh dealer, one of your drains are clogged.

Default Easy fix.

The drain in the plenum chamber is clogged. Water backs up and goes through the fresh air intake into passenger compartment.

Pull the rubber gasket off the front of the flat plastic panel covering the battery. Once removed you can easily lift off the plastic cover like this:

Look in there and clean it out. Leaves and gook of all kinds could make their way in. Pay special attention to the drain of course. While in there you should check your filter. It got wet I'm sure and it may indeed be quite nasty now. If it mildews for forms mold your HVAC will be nasty as well. The part number is 4BO 819 439 C and is about $20. I wrote this replacement procedure a while back.

Default Plugged drain or maybe...

There has been previous mention of something similar on the boards. It could be that the windshield is not sealed properly. I recall something about spacers not being removed at the factory when the windshield was seated/sealed.

Hope it is something minor.

Good Luck!
Gavin

Default Had the same thing. Carpet in the passenger footwell got wet after car wash.

Sounds like RMcQ has the fix below...dealer did mine under warranty and replaced the filter.

Thank you so much...that would explain the strange/musty/sweet smell when HVAC is recirculated.
