Default Lost key...

Dealer quoted me $60 to recode a new key, is this something that can be done w/ VAG?

My wife thinks she lost the key but isn't positive. While we are looking and buying a replacement, I'd like to recode the remaining key so if someone has found it, the lost key would not remotely work the car. It is obviously much easier to find the car a found key belongs to if the lights flash when you push the buttons.

Default for the immobilizer or for the remote

for the car to no longer start with the old key you pretty much need to work at a dealership to DIY that one.

TO program the remote, well thats easy to DIY.
