Default Manual tranny fluid info

Looked on this site for a "drivetrain" forum, but didn't find one.

I have an '02 AR with a 6-sp MT. The synchros are getting more and more rough, but I'm not replaceing it or re-building it until I see if a fluid change has any effect.

Does anyone know of any ADDITIVES to the Audi approved fluid that are safe, or have shown positive results, to use?

Fluid change won't help. It's a feature of this gearbox; at some point you will have to rebuild it with upgraded synchros. If they are getting rough, expect to be stranded without 1st and 2nd soon.
good luck

^^ This.

You could try running new fluid but unfortunately once your synchro's start to go there is not stopping it.

We have manual transmission fluid available below.

Click HERE to order or for more information.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I was just thinking there was something short of sawdust I could put in the tranny that might perform the same function...

Consider yourself (somewhat) lucky. I lost the clutch last spring and 3 weeks after getting the car back the first and second gear synchro's went. So I got to pay removal and reinstall labor twice.
Good luck.

It also could be your mounts from to much movement. Listen for a clunk between shifts not really loud but there. I'd start with a apikol diff mount plus cross bar bushings and start from there going to trans mounts and engine mounts.

I use redline in my trans mt-90 and diff 75w90. Jhmotorsports.com lists the amount in both needed.
