Default Memory seat observation / question:

Has anybody else noticed this? If I press the memory seat button before I start the car, the seat and mirrors will go all the way to their prescribed setting after just a single press-and-release. But if I do it after the car is on, I have to hold the button down until the movements are completed.

This is a [very] minor annoyance to me - anybody found a way around it?

Default don't start the car...?

It is actually supposed to reposition when you use the key fob to open the ar. Somewhere in the ar's book are the instructions of mating the key fob to the seat memory.

Default Re: Memory seat observation / question:

There should be some reason for that, because it acts exactly the same in both my Audis which are 15 years apart.
Programming the key as Paulroad suggested is a good idea, but in reality, how often do you unlock your car with a key, not the button on the remote?

My '01 does the same thing. Could never figure it out. Program the key fob like Paulroad said.

Default Probably a safety feature -- no unrestrained seat movements while the engine is running.

I once sat down after unlocking the car with the wrong fob and found myself in an activated trash compactor. :-) Wouldn't want that to happen while driving.

Default IIRC, the manual says....

According to what I read for my '01, the button will automatically continue through its memorized setting while the door is still open. Once the door is closed, you will have to hold the button down.

If the car is locked, then opening it with a matched key fob setting will automatically reposition the seat to the desired setting.

Default #@%*&## slow dialup...

beaten to the punch yet again. By the time I'd waited for the rest of the first page to load and clicked through, you'd answered the question.

If I need to reposition a seat after the car is running, I pop open the door a crack and hit the memory button; that way I don't have to hold it down while the seat moves.

Uhhh, it does work with the button if you set it up. I'm sure that is what Paul was talking about.

Default But even when activated by the Fob the seat doesn't start moving until you open the door

I have found this very slightly annoying because with my cat like speed and agility I can be trying to wedge myself into my wifey's driving position before the seat moves all the way back.
