Hello all,
I'm preparing for my first oil change on my Allroad. Just picked up a couple MANN filters from Napa. I'm having a hard time finding 0W-30 off-the-shelf. I hope I am looking for the right grade. I did find 0W-30 at Walmart, it is MOBIL ONE SYNTHETIC ADVANCED FUEL ECONOMY. Don't care much for the claim about better MPG, just want to make sure it will be ok for my car. (2.7L) Tried to find Castrol 0W-30 but can't locate it. I would appreciate a run-down of oils that others use in their Allroads.
Location = Massachusetts = freakin' cold right now
Thanks

I haven't tried there but have plenty around me. I tried Advance Auto Parts, Napa, Walmart. Castrol 0W30, is this a synthetic? I've read I should be using a synthetic.

Good call on the MANN filter as it is the best for the 2.7t. As far as oil it is not a 'should' use synthetic, but rather must use synthetic. Mobil 1 is a great oil, but I prefer 5w40 for year round running. The oil in these engines gets hot with extended highway driving. I've heard great reviews about Shell Rotella T6 and I'm thinking of switching to it at my next change. It's also fairly cheap and can be found at Napa or Walmart.

Well in my searches at quattroworld I came across this link which seems to be a fairly recent release of approved oils for Audi/VW:
http://www.audiusa.com/etc/medialib/....0023.File.pdf
Did a keyword search of the document for "rotella" and it didn't come up with anything. I've heard the Castrol 0W-30 mentioned quite a bit so if that's a good safe choice I think I will go with that. Don't think Santa will bring me K04's for Christmas so I need to be a good boy and get some miles out of my K03's.

Anyone want to chime in on the best replacement battery? My research has found that a Interstate MTP-91 or MTP-93 should fit pretty well, also maybe a Diehard International. I've also read that Walmart & autozone have off-the-shelf replacements, however I have never bought batteries from those places. I've always owned Diehards and NEVER had a battery problem. (that wasn't self-inflicted) Again, looking for off-the-shelf. Napa has a quite a variety of batteries listed for the Allroad ranging from 650CCA to 900CCA. At $150 dollars though they are the priciest.
