Default Modification of the allroad power steering

I find the power steering on my allroad to be too strong, yeilding the somewhat less than sporty handling of the vehicle. I would appreciate comments from those who performed the modification as outlined at

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/28570.phtml

as to how the mod went and if they are happy with it.

Default I pulled the 605 relay last week...

Love the new feel. I can't see how they would have a leg to stand on as far as warranty goes. In europe the 605 relay is sold as the Servotronic Steering option. Pulling just makes your car like a standard Euro spec allroad...

How difficult, do you think, it would be to replace the relay for warranty considerations?

Default There's been a lot of discussion about this.

If you search the A6 forum, you'll find a lot. I spliced in a switch using the tech post as a guideline and put a lit switch to the right of the steering wheel. Have never turned the boost back on (3 months). In hindsight, it would have been easier to simply pull the relay. If you are worried about voiding the warranty, you can always plug it back in, although my understanding is that European versions (at least on the A6) don't even have the boost relay. It's strictly for us pampered Americans.

Did you have to remove the panel above the driver's footwell to get to it?

Default Discussion with Audi Mastertech

I had a discussion with the Audi mastertech at my dealer in regards to the pulling of the 605 "Servotronic" relay voiding the Audi warranty. He said that he had actually done it for customers before.

In any case, I took the plunge & removed the relay without too much trouble. The car, in my opinion, now, seems to drive far more like the German sport wagon that it is.

Thanks for all the helpful imput.

Richard
