I think the Doctor is on to something. I believe the Audi Assured Warranty costs the dealer $500, but I could be wrong.

Default That is BS. My sister just bought an '02 allroad- one of the service loaners. CERTIFIED! 6/100

The car has 3000 miles on it and had been titles to the dealership. she bought it as a Audi Certified car. 6yrs/ 100k miles. Dealer said the warranty cost them $950.

Your dealer is trying to pull a fast one on you! This is what gives dealers a bad name.

Default An Audi Assured warranty is offered (by Audi) for used Audis that have passed a certain inspection..

and as mentioned by others, it should only cost the dealer around $500 to purchase it. By offering it instead of $1000, they will be making a small profit. But, if you were to sell your car to the dealership then buy it back used with the warranty, it would cost you much more (warranty-profit + sales tax). So, you're not necessarily getting ripped off by their offer, and at least you have a choice.

Default confused. warranty or no? it may actually be Audi Assured...

I haven't yet spoken to the dealer (wanted to get my story straight).

should I take the warranty if it's Audi Assured?

if it really costs them $950 to get the warranty that is a very fair offer in lieu of $1000 incentive bonus.

esp. if the repairs on the car can get expensive....

I think the consensus is take the warranty if it's an Audi Assured Warranty. I'm not sure how the panel feels if it's not an Audi Assured Warranty. The Doctor also suggest going for an extra $500, which makes sense because the Audi Assured Warranty costs the dealer $500 (I think).
