Default My moms 2.7T ARQ >> Timing belt

First off hello from the TT forum! I have a mother, and that mother has a 2004 Allroad 2.7 tip with 67,000 on it. I asked her if she's had the timing belt changed yet, and she said no, and she also said she hadnt planned on changing it till it recommended her to at 100k. Now over in TT country, you have to be insane to let your TB go that long without changing, cause that's just plain wrong. Most of us change around 60,000, as alot of members had theirs break in or around then. I'm planning on doing mine on the TT soon, so it's in my mind. Any information you guys can provide would be a HUGE help, horror stories too: i'm leaving the link to this thread in her email :-). I have a hunch that she'll need it done, just wanna make sure first.

TIA allroaders!

Default Nah I recommend 80000. No belt manufacturer recommends a longer interval.

Audi says 105000, but if it fails the results are a lot more than just the price of the belt replacement.

Default does your mom drive like you?

I'll assume she is gentle to her ar.
I'm not and still changed it at 105K.

Nothing wrong with waiting..follow ex PxKW's advice...at least until 80K miles.

Default My extended warranty covers belt failure to 100K mi.

My extended warranty covers most everything, including timing belt failure, to 100K if maintainence is done as scheduled. No early belt change for me!

Default I don't agree with this gamble, as you're required to perform all scheduled maintenance

or you'll have no coverage for that issue or consequential damage. If that company can produce an Audi schedule that contradicts yours, you could be in trouble.

Default We recommend 60-75k.

All of our belt manufacturers recommend this interval.

Default I had mine done at 75,000 and it feels great!

The ex-PzKW Kommandant did mine and did an excellent job, by the way. It might just be me, but I can feel a great difference between the before and after maintenance.

It also took a load off my conscience not to worry about the belt breaking during my commute to and from work!
