Default When I lowered my 25mm for the track, it bottomed out on every bump or dip

on the street. I raised back up as soon as I got home because it was beating my car to death.

Default 25mm at lowest setting with 19" will rub on the inner fender wall corners, the very first

set of Toyo's showed clear signs of rubbing, the car was changed back then to 20mm immidiately.

Default asking for trouble that low

hey guys. been lurking. miss the allroad, but a 740i isn't a bad ride either.

Wes Mantooth, heed the advise of your allroad breathren. you can bend your frame when you hit the bumpstops. The previous owner of my AR had 19" wheels, 25mm down in front. It took me 20 months to get Audi to buy back my car, but the evidence was irrefutable. Its not worth it just for the look. I had to drive around in level three just to not hit the bump stops. The lower control arms take a beating. I have pics with inch long gouges where they were hitting bolts on the steering knuckle.

you have your picture. now raise it back up before you bend the frame.

Default yo, danger....

Good to see you're still lurking...

740i is definitely a sweet ride. What year? Post a pic - I won't be offended. Can't speak for everyone else ;-)

Default its a '99

all dinged up. its the inlaw mobile. trying to hold off until the '07s arrive and open up some options.

wifey rearranged the front bumper on her first trip out. After smacking a rock in a parking lot, she dragged the dangling fog lamp all the way from topaga to venice-something about a "funny noise..." I would have been pissed if it had been my car.

I see where she gets it. Her mother picked us up at the boston airport, and ran over a huge curb pulling out of the pickup lane. Drive by braille. Her benz has dents all over it, and she doesn't give a snit.

I don't have a pic, but just ding up a blue 99, and you got it. The plastic radiator let go last week. Apparently, its the weakest link on the E38.

I'm actually impressed the most with the suspension. Smooth ride, but gets through corners very well for a heavy car. Definately feel the difference driving only the rear wheels. You're rewarded big time for picking up the power early in a corner.

Hot enough for you in c-city?

Your wife and mother in law sound like my sister, who spent ten years driving with out glasses until she got lasik. Her: "I'm lost. Can't read road signs." Me: "Do you think people would notice glasses on your face - in your car at night?"

I loved the previous gen 740. I was looking at 01 740i sports including allroads. But once I got back behind a manual... well, that and 4wd made it a done deal. They're great cars, though and had such disctinct BMW'ness. Shame about the condition, your fog light story had me laughing. You're smart to wait till fall, though. Deals are always better then.

For what it's worth - My allroad was just in the shop for a misfire for three weeks. New cylinder head and a bunch of other stuff. Warranty bill = $6000+. I love this car, but I don't know how audi plans to make any money. The upside is the thing is running perfectly now. It's like a new car.

It's hot out here in Centinarian City, but not as hot as Hollywood :-)

Stay well,
Nick
