Default Need help: Steering vibration

Hi All, My AR has slightly steering wheel vibration around 50-55 miles/hour on a smooth surface. In a cold morning (40 to 50 degree F) vibration is very noticable at 65 miles/hour and above on smooth high way suface too (toll road 241). BTW, I live in Irvine, CA. My wife's BMW325i has no such vibration exist. I have been bringing my AR to dealer back and force many times. First, I changed new set of tires(cost $1k), and no luck. New rotors and breaks, and no luck again. They told me 2 of my new Goodyear AR tires (less than 1k miles) are not balanced and had been put in the back of my car since my last visit. They had ordered another 2 new tires for me. I will bring my car to dealer again this Thursday again to have the tires replaced. However, I have a feeling that the problem will still exist. Anyone has the same problem? Or, anyone who also use toll raod 241 in Orange County in California, and do you feel any vibration on your steering wheel?

Default welcome to the club

do a search on "wobble" and read the plentiful old postings on the problem. first line of action besides tires seems to be road force balancing on "hunter" type machine. some have had driveshafts or transmission control modules replaced. the most common wobble appears at 45 mph on tiptronic transmissions only - is yours a tip?

Default I would guess that every one (almost) on the board has been through this

mine just went away with a new set of snow tires and a great second balance, not having the wabble,I now find my self speeding be cause the 75mph shake is not there to warn me. But with a little slush with sand caked in on the back side of the rim and it wabbles untill cleand.

Also check your power steering fluid level!

Default Lots of us have been through this...........

My 2003 allroad first had the drive shaft replaced. That helped a lot, but still had the minor shakes you mentioned. Dealer tried to balance using latest Hunter machine, etc. No joy. I replaced the original tires with Nokian WRs. That pretty much did the trick. Became "perfect" after I added power steering fluid. When the fluid is low on the allroad, it causes the steering wheel to pass along the wobble you mention. Keep chasing the problem. Once you fix it, you will love the way it drives.
