Default Need to replace the front left air spring, opinions on Arnott Gen 1 vs Gen 2? I know

gen 2 is designed for better handling, but wondering if anyone can verify that the extra $200 for the set is worth it...

I just replaced both fronts with Gen 1 springs, and very happy with the ride and performance. I think if you go the Generation II route, Arnott suggests replacing all four springs.

it depends on how you drive....if you had a ford taurus and need to replace the shocks..would you go for the "standard set" or would you opt for the sport handling set?

Default Gen 2

Yesterday I overnight ordered a set of Gen 2 for my 4.2 - front and back - and I heard last night that they are out of stock until later this week. No further ETA yet, will let you know when I receive them. I had planned to put them in Thursday but oh well ...

That's easy, I wouldn't have a Taurus... I do get your point, and I would much rather opt for the better handling, so I guess it's a matter of how much I want to spend vs. how badly I want a better ride.

Yea, like spending $600 or $1,500 + labor on 4 springs instead of 2. If I could have just replaced my front springs with the Gen II's and left the OEM's on the back I would have done that.

If air bags are going left and right, I'm guessing it's a no brainer to go with the Arnott coil overs?

Assuming it's not that important that one loses the ability to adjust ride height...

I actually take the car places where I need the extra clearance often enough that the coilovers wouldn't make sense...

Default Gen 2

Same for me, I also need the extra clearance. I heard from Arnott earlier, according to Adam they shipped the Gen 2 front/back today. Lets hope they show up tomorrow so they can be installed Thursday. I will keep you posted.

Default Gen 2 installed - partially ...

Ok, the Gen 2 springs are installed at the front. It turned out that you also should get an "installation kit" from Audi with new screws, bolts, rubber rings etc. - Streetwerke in Palo Alto did the installation - no alignment needed. Everything went smooth on the front and the springs are in - and the car works again.

Did I mention that on the way to the shop the car dropped from level 2 to zero during driving - I had to stop, turn off the engine, turn it back on, set it to level 3 to get there. Fortunately level 3 was still working but it slowed me down a bit

The Gen 2 installation in the back is a different story. According to Audi the originals don't break so they did not have an installation kit readily available - requires a couple of days on special order. We decided to hold off until the next service and do it at that time.

Unfortunately Arnott does not include the installation kit, so you should always get them for the front/back directly from Audi. You need one for each spring.

Arnott sent me the springs overnight and I am very happy with their fast response. I am also happy how they feel, and I am back driving at level 1.
