while having new tires put on the other day - Discount Tire guy showed me a "slurry" of grease on the front left wheel - he asked if I recently changed out the wheel bearing - hmmmm.... haven't heard the dreaded noise and haven't called Audi yet - this is a new one for me - does this mean the wheel bearing is leaking/failing? best advice please, thanks! paula

More likely an outer CV joint boot. You can visually inspect, tears normally start in the bottom of the troughs of the boot. Boot will have grease on it too (normal boot will be clean).
