Default New Allroad Owner ; TBB, Cracked Fan Replacement, & a Mouse Nest under the Intake

First I want to introduce myself and say hi.....Ive been lurking for about a week & have already found this to be a great resource, so I figured it was time to join.

Im 26 & live in Broomfield, CO. I have owned my 2001 allroad 2.7t automatic for about a month & so far have done front & rear brake pads, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, coolant temp mod, & front grill. Right now Im in the process of changing the throtle body boot, and fan blade but autohaus sent me the wrong blade so Im just sitting around waiting with no fan blade on the car. Any one who has replaced the fan blade without puling the front clip want to give me any pointers on getting the fan blade back on? Kinda wondering if Im going to be able to get a whole blade back in there.

CRACK IS WHACK

REMOVING THE BLADE

TBB RIPAGE

NEW REINFORCED SILICONE BOOT

Also why doing this I happened to find a cozy home for some furry creatures under the intake

Mice Turds

I also have new solid motor mounts (street density) & snub mount sitting around waiting for their turns. 20" rims go on as soon as spacers from black forest arrive.

& if anyone is in my area with a VAGCOM I would love to lower my car after I get the rims on this week....Ill buy the beer or jack!!!

Also I just noticed that under the drivers side of the intake where the mouse nest was I have some coolant crust build up on a circle black thingy majigy......anyone know what that is?

Thanks alot guys, and I hope to contribute my knowledge to help some of you as well

well I finished replacing the new fan blade from the stealership.....Im going to do a quick DIY write up since there wasnt one for me to look at.

-First remove right side turbo pipe (3 clamps, tbb, dv, lower hose, & 10mm bolt on timing cover)

-Next remove your old fan blade by breaking, cutting away blades that you need to(I used snips)....the more the better, it makes it alot easier getting it out after your remove the 3 allen wrench bolts(5mm I think) on the front side.....remove the blade being carefull not to mess up the radiator

-Now undo the radiator upper support(2 torx on each side & headlight top bolts.....then remove the 2 front radiator plugs (little black cicles on the upper support

-Cut a half circle in the top of the fan blade shroud...I used and air grinder with a cutting wheel, but almost anything would work, just make sure to file down any edges and make it look nice.....this is for your hand to tighten the bolts and provide alittle more room

-Pry out the radiator upper support as much as possible......I cut 2 6inX6in pieces of plywood and placed them between the mounting points for the v6 biturbo plastic and the radiator support

-slide in your new fan.....I wrapped the bottom of the fan blade with cardboard so it would slide on the radiator and not cause any problems....it is a tight fit, but the new blade is much more flexible than you old crusty one

-tighten the 3 allen bolts & replace all the other parts

Congrats you just did you vicious fan blade with out pulling the front clip or pulley!!

heres a picture of the hand cut out I did....this is the KEY to getting the bolts back in
