New Tranny...

I just dropped off the '03 allroad for service after complaining about the loss of reverse. The service rep. said that he had to duplicate the problem in order to have it fixed properly. As soon as he sat in the car, shifted to reverse and punched the accelerator he said, "Yup, you'll be getting a new transmission from Audi!" I was pleasantly surprised and anxious to get the allroad back with a new tranny and TC installed. BTW...the car has 39K on it at this point. That seems a little premature to be, but I am not complaining!

Yes, it is brand new. Audi will never give you a rebuilt tranny if they are repairing it under warranty. I was told this by the master tech. at my dealership.

It sure does! That was the first thing that I asked about. How many more miles did you get out of your A4 after the new tranny?

I have a freind that owns a large local independent tranny shop. The audi dealers around here dont do the tranny swaps themselves, they outsource the job to my friends shop...
He says that all the Audi warranty tranny swaps are rebuilds or just used trannys from the wrecking yard...
That what he tells me anyway?? I don't know him that well, but he seems to know his stuff. He warned me about the audi tip tranny TqC's back when I was thinking about buying an allroad...

It's a new one...they will not put a rebuilt tranny in a CPO vehicle because they want it done right the first time to save cash...besides...I have 1 year and 9 months left on the warranty. That's a lot of time left for them to pay into my car!
