Default NEWS from Arnott!!! Front Generation-II Air Springs

http://www.arnottindustries.com/part...24_gid529.html

We specially designed the lower pistons with a progressive design, giving your suspension a higher spring rate when lowered. These revolutionary air springs also feature an aluminum outer sleeve, designed to increase the spring rate, while still providing a smooth controlled ride. Therefore, unlike factory-installed air springs, our Generation-II Front Air Springs boast a more comprehensive design – providing your allroad with superior handling both on and off road.

gyus, any suggestions?

Damn, these look super solid. Look at the aluminum sleeve.I assume it is there to prevent the sack from bulging outwards and more importantly from dirt and sand getting on the sack and cause tears from repetitive folding and unfolding.

If I was relpacing my sacks I would probably go for these even though the price delta is about 2x on these vs Gen 1.

yes, the Arnott's Gen 2 air springs looks more completed and protected.

And i think Gen 2 looks similar to VW Touareg(Audi Q7/Porsche Cayenne) air springs design!

here is pics of Touareg air springs:

but i mentioned one difference - why did not Arnott use rubber duster at the bottom as OEM VAG air springs has?

tha bellows is a good idea to protect the rubber from the sand and grit of the road. Too bad the ar OEM were not designed that way.

I might get a set for back, I feel they might fail *one way or another * soon. Fronts were replaced just in january with OEMs by previous owner, unfortunately

No! Aluminum outer sleeves, designed to increase the spring rate and to prevent destructive changes in the geometry of air springs in the moment of critical stretching under the pressure! in other words - prevent cracks and breaks in rubber crease of air spring sleeves!

they weren't designed to protect rubber from the sand and mud!
for this purpose there should be rubber duster such as OEM VAG springs has!

Is there any technical obstacle to slap your own rubber bellow over the air spring? Are there any parts in the way if you had a proper size rubber available?

hmmmm...
