2002 totally stock, ebay purchase 12,000 miles ago, I replaced the turbo coolant pump myself (no cracks, just a housing $.50 "O" ring), performs flawlessly. Sorry for your problems. We have a 1998 Ford Expedition with 105K miles, have had one problem- a lack of 4 wheel drive. I replaced the shift motor, still did not work, took it to dealer and he corrected the problem with software. Really no problems at all. But then I hear of Expedtitions with problems, blowing plugs, heads etc. Persepective again.

don't you think there could be a possibility a lot of problems reported on this forum are a consequence of mods (not saying in that particular case)?
I mean, generally speaking, in Europe where much more A6/allroad are running, it's considered as a reliable car (besides power window, instrument panel and mass flow controller issues on diesels).
Sway bars, 18 or 19" rims with spacers, 402 mod, Engine and Tip chips, etc... can deeply impact reliability or behaviour of this german engineered car.
Consider this : 7 blown turbos have been reported on this forum so far. 6 of them were chipped. The last one was due to a foreign object.
I'm not saying mods are wrong (I like to read posts on them), but it's sometimes easy to blame the car where we should blame the driver or the maintenance technician (see Paul's worries).

Other than H-sports mine is not a modded car. The problems I have been having with the car.. recently are not related to any kind of mods. Steering sensors, ABS module, cam shaft seals, rear differntial seals, blown oil return line seals. Forget the replaced head unit, the warped rotors. I don't fault the dealership, I do fault the quality of the car, but not the qualtiy of the brand.

The more I watch resale values lately, it is becoming more clear my residual will be too high and I'm probably walking away from this car. Add to that the absolute NEED for an extended warranty and the $$$'s...well, it is looking doubtful I'll be keeping mine nor buying another.

My sister in law has a 2003 Explorer with 60K and the tranny just went. Ford want 4k to fix. So it does happen on other makes.
