When temperature goes down, Allroad start to have strange noises (or normal)!

I have notice some noise when I start engine under 32F temperature. It is like heating noise when steel is expanding-moving (like if you put electric radiator on). I have not noticed same kind of noise in other cars. Normal??

This morning was very cold 0 F. I had my car running (heat up) 5-10 minutes before leaving. After driving 100 yard I notised that I forgot my wallet, so I returned. I left car running and I noticed quite loud noise like some "plastic" vibrating and hitting some where. I open hood and checked that all plastics on top of engine are on their places. I looked under car where noice was louder (louder under and on front of engine). Could not see anything because of all plastic! I drove to work (10 minutes) and noise was gone! Any idea what to check? Or should I just forget it!

Normal noise on startup for few minutes. They all do it.

I've never heard any noises on startup --- 20K miles

Look at the fan housings and make sure (engine off) that both fans spin freely without hitting anything.

Then something is wrong with your allroad... or your hearing. The secondary air injection runs on cold starts - part of emissions control.

Maybe because I only park inside; I'll have to listen closer.

Yeah it usually freaks people out the first time or two they hear it.
