VW/Audi does need to get their act together with reliability, I just don't get it? I think "Vorsprung Durch Technik" is a big part of the problem. They never seem to hold on to an idea long enough to perfect it, always changing technology=lots of mistakes.

VW also problematic. Interesting since I did have a passat for about a year and had more CELs with that car than any other car I have owned in the past 10 years. My allroad, coilpacks aside, was otherwise perfect.

CR is great for those who know nothing about what they are buying and need the best product for the masses. With regards to cars they are researching for people who don't know when to change their oil, not people who like to drive.
There are plenty of great cars on that list, but if your main focus is reliability no German (or european) car is the way to go. Get a Honda or a Toyota, the drive may suck but they are reliable.

CR is ok for car data. Generally true as is JD Power and Associates. Lets face it the allroad is not the most reliable car guys nor is it cheap to fix. CR was made for the masses and the masses should not buy a high mileage out of warranty allroad in my opinion. So thus its correct.

if you look into how Consumer Reports does some of their calcs you will see that many of these are low production vehicles and so any error weighs heavier than for vehicles where there is more data available...sorry this is something I have had trouble with with CR for years...much of their research is not subject to good research methods. <end of rant>
